Problem Statement

Employees accumulate a tremendous amount of business knowledge throughout their careers, leaving organizations stranded if that knowledge is not shared with others once an employee retires. It would be a great benefit to businesses large and small if an environment where generationally diverse employees will share knowledge gained through experience. Generation X and Y workers will account for well over fifty percent of the working population in 2016 and will carry businesses through this inevitable workforce transition. Employers need to better prepare themselves prior to this workforce shift by assessing their workforce needs today. An unwavering effort is required to transfer knowledge between workers before it becomes a crisis.

Research Question(s)
  1. What trust factors between workers from different generations lead to successful transfer of knowledge.
  2. Do mentoring programs impact knowledge sharing

Hypothesis
Interpersonal trust leads to increased knowledge sharing

Null & Alternative hypothesis do / do not influence trust?
  • Mentoring

  • Respect
  • Communication
  • Actions
  • Ability
  • Perceived intentions
  • Power / Control
